Joey Roses
SANDWICH shop & social Club
Is that a winnebago parked in the middle of L.e.s. ?!
Comedian Joe DeRosa first reached out to me in 2020 about doing a chalk sign for a sandwich pop-up he was running inside of The Stand Comedy Club. At the time, The Stand’s owner Paul had already been a long time client of mine so I seamlessly said yes. The pop-up was such a success that Joe and Paul opened an official sandwich shop on the Lower East Side and brought me on to help make things official. Joey Roses Sandwich Shop and Social Club was born! I designed all of the chalkboards, inside and outside of the shop, along with the pull down gate that is visible when they are closed for the evening. This is where I assumed the adventure ended, until I got a text from Joe asking if I’d ever seen the movie Spaceballs. Little did I know they had teamed up with the amazing people at Wyoming Whiskey, and had the insane idea to transform their outdoor eating area into the spaceballs Winnebago. Say no more, it shall be done, and it was! By far the biggest project I’ve ever done alone, and by far the most fun I’ve ever had.
